End Of Trip

Most of the week Carol was back at the settlement stuffing envelopes and sorting labels. But today we had the pleasure of having her out at the job site with us. I wish I had know she had all these skills. We would have had her working with us sooner! Guess I need to get her a pair of safety glasses.

Here is the completed floor we did (new 3/4"plywood, luann, tiles & moulding). No more floor rot from the leaking water heater...yeah!
Here is the after & the before of the bathroom remodel. Wish we had time to put the new sub floor & tiles down.  The shower was a lot more work than was planned for. The new shower would not fit through the bathroom door, so we had to build new walls for the base.

Saying our final goodbye's to everyone.
We all had a great work week and look forward to next year at Henderson Settlement. Maybe some of our friends will join us in 2014.

Thursday

Today was a much more productive day, or at least it seemed like it. We almost finished the shower area and Henry stopped all the leaks at the water heater and faucet. We had Dave down under the house for one last time to stop a leak at our shower trap.

Glenda's house is always filled with "family". Here she is with her great grandson Lucas.
Won't be surprised if Dave gets home & has a cat in his bag. They would not even miss one because there are so many. Someone even dropped off 3 dogs by the driveway today.

Jesse and his daddy made this chair today out of used 2X4's. He is very proud of his workmanship.
Forgot to mention that Dave made me this sign& put it at the end of his driveway.....wonder why?
Last year I did not see that culvert while trying to back the van into his driveway. Couldn't miss it now with this sign....Thanks for the reminder, Dave!
Every one in Kentucky has a 4 wheeler....even Bill!

Rub A Dub Dub, 2 men in a tub.
Jesse wanted to show me his rabbits.
Tammy wanted to go see the settlement's Pyrenees dogs, Sally & Maggie. There was a sign posted "Do Not feed Or Pet The Dogs". They kept barking at us. They are not very friendly dogs, but then again they are not supposed to be friendly, they are "GUARD" dogs.
We hope to be heading home tomorrow if we get our job done early enough. We need to be able to stay awake for the the 12 hour drive, or at least our drivers do. Check back for our before & after photos tomorrow.

Look Henry really does work! Matt what is that pose? Having a problem with that window?
Bill was introduced to Emily, granddaughter of our homeowner Glenda. Bill said he has a granddaughter named Emily also!
Our homeowner Glenda and her grandson Jesse
Rained this morning, but we were not going to let that stop us. We constructed a make shift covering for Henry so he could keep working to get the water turned back on.
Dave is our tunnel rat. Shortly after this photo was taken we screwed the flooring down over Dave's head & left him there until he hooked up our shower base. Don't think that smile was on his face when he finally crawled out. We still had a leak after all the work we did. Going to try to fix it in the morning. Can't find the parts here locally. No wonder they don't fix things around here.
Carol worked all week so far in the office so we only see her for meals & at bed time. Hope she will be going out to our site tomorrow to pound some nails instead of licking envelopes and sorting labels.
Matt puts the windows in & Tammy primes & paints them...go team go!
Emily made us a THANK YOU letter. Her whole family signed it. The room we put the floor in is Emily's bedroom. She couldn't wait to dance on that new floor. She also hung some new posters on the wall. She is proud of her room.
Here are 2 team photos from Sunday that we wanted to share.

This last photo is our homeowner house. Glenda Partin (no relation to Dolly) is a wonderful woman. She greets us every morning with a cheery smile. We look forward to finishing this project before we head home at the end of the week. Stay tuned for another update tomorrow.

Sunday's walk on the Clear Creek Bible College railroad path.

Beautiful natural tunnel along the path.

This is the water heater that had Henry & I stumped for several hours on Monday.....the water is still off, but we will have Victory tomorrow!

Dave worked up a sweat 15 minutes into the job...believe it or not, I had to tell him to slow down!
Had Bill on his knees most of the day....I'm sure he was praying while down there.

This is our protector cat watching over Henry's tools....below he is watching over Henry until BAD Henry caught the poor cat's tail under a board!

Bill & Tammy were going to move our shower stall, but their kitty did not want to move off of it.
Big project just to remove the water heater from it's closet.
David's kitty would not let him close his sawzall box....He wanted to come along with us.
 Dave & I striking a pose.
Matt looking through our newly built shower wall...check out those fancy fittings!
Whose that doggy in the window? That's no doggy...that's the BOSS!
Pray for our team this week as well as all the other folks here at Henderson.  Also - prayers for friends who had to leave camp due to health issues - our prayers are with Lee & Ellie for a safe return to Michigan - Wish you a speedy recovery, Ellie - we Love you!
